The Weill Cornell Medicine-New York Presbyterian Minority House Staff Committee, Department of Medicine, and the Residency Program in Internal Medicine sponsored the following events during the 2016-2017 academic year:
September 2016: Our Make Your Match Diversity Open House conference welcomed premedical and medical students to Weill Cornell to learn about the residency match process; panel discussions on what program directors look for and “a day in the life of a medicine resident”; mock interviews; and a tour of New York Presbyterian Hospital, and a networking luncheon and reception with residents and faculty.
December 2016: The Weill Cornell Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Student Diversity, Memorial Sloan Kettering Medical Center, and the WCM Department of Medicine cosponsored a Holiday Mixer held at the Faculty Club.
January 2017: Our annual Diversity Recruitment Winter Gathering hosted applicants, house staff, Cornell medical students, fellows, and faculty at an informal get together at a local restaurant.
June 2017: Our Tri-Institutional Diversity Retreat, cosponsored by the Weill Cornell Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Department of Medicine, Rockefeller University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, brought together medical and graduate students, house staff, fellows, postdocs, and faculty to develop a Diversity Strategic Plan for our Tri-Institutional Diversity efforts.
June 2017: Our Diversity Intern Welcome event, held at a local restaurant, greeted new internal medicine interns, current and graduating house staff, medical students, fellows, and faculty and residency program staff. Welcome to our new doctors and good luck to our graduates!
