Research Administrator Kristen Brady Runs Half-Marathon to Raise Awareness of Children's Congenital Heart Conditions

On Feb. 26, Kristen Brady, Assistant Director of Research Administration in the Department, ran the 2024 Disney half-marathon and raised $3,250 for the Children’s Heart Foundation. Two of Kristen’s children have significant congenital heart defects. Her four-year-old daughter’s complex heart condition required three surgeries; today she thrives using half a heart. Her one-year-old son underwent surgery last fall for a congenital heart defect and is also doing well. Kristen expressed gratitude for her Weill Cornell Medicine care team, including Dr. Patrick Flynn, her children's cardiologist, and surgeon Dr. Emile Bacha.

Kristen now serves on the board of the Children’s Health Foundation and helps organize events in support of the organization’s mission to raise awareness and expand research for children’s congenital heart conditions.

Calling her children her “heart warriors,” Kristen, a longtime runner, has taken on running events, including the New York City Marathon, to raise money for the Children’s Heart Foundation. She discussed this work on an episode of Vitals.

We congratulate Kristen for a successful showing at the Disney half-marathon and her continued dedication to this important cause!
