Weill Department of Medicine APPs Among Awardees at Advanced Practice Provider Awards

Three members of the Weill Department of Medicine community were among the providers recognized during Weill Cornell Medicine's second annual Advanced Practice Provider Awards this week. Kasey Woodin, NP, in the division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, won NP of the Year while Maureen Thyne, PA, in the division of Hematology & Medical Oncology, won Physician Assistant (PA) of the Year. In addition, Margie Fernandez-Sloves, NP, in the division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, recieved the Mentorship Award for her incredible work mentoring NPs.

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), which include NPS, PAs, nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) and clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), are a critical part of Weill Cornell Medicine's clinical and operational success. The event coincided with National Nurse Practitioners Week 2023, which takes place Nov. 12-18. This year's theme, aptly, was Recognizing Heroes in Healthcare.

We warmly congratulate all the winners!

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Council, established in 2021, convenes on the third Monday of each month. It is dedicated to identifying projects and initiatives to APPs throughout Weill Cornell Medicine. If you are an APP and are interested in participating, please contact Colleen Lee, director of Nursing & Patient Safety.
