It is estimated that over 3 million patients are affected by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, in the United States. These complex, immune-mediated diseases are marked by a significant heterogeneity of clinical signs and symptoms. Recent guidelines emphasize the need for timely diagnosis and proactive initiation of disease-modifying therapies to promote favorable outcomes. The Jill Roberts Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease is dedicated to the research and treatment of IBD.
Our IBD Fellowship is an intensive multi-disciplinary one-year program aimed at developing expertise in IBD patient care and research aligned with guidance from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and the gastrointestinal societies. Directed by Dr. Dana Lukin, who initiated the program in 2019, our fellowship incorporates learning in both outpatient and inpatient settings with dedicated focus on:
A minimum of 30% of time is devoted to research. The fellow will also lead two monthly multi-disciplinary case conferences and attend national and local meetings. At the end of the program, advanced fellows will be in a strong position to excel in faculty roles and become leaders in the IBD field.
