Nicole Ng, M.D.
  • Undergrad: University of California, Los Angeles
  • MD: Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine
  • Residency: NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine

Hometown: Vancouver/Hong Kong/Beijing

Hobbies: Exploring new restaurants, writing Yelp reviews (Yelp Elite since 2019), visiting museums

Why I love New York: The energy and fast-paced rhythm of New York City deeply resonates with my upbringing in several major metropolitan areas. From diverse patient interactions and rigorous clinical training, and between my neighborhood bodega and Michelin-starred dining, New York continues to offer a rich blend of professional and personal experiences.

Why I love Weill Cornell Medicine's Gastroenterology program: I am drawn to Cornell’s rigorous clinical training, extensive exposure to transplant hepatology, and robust research opportunities. As a former Weill Cornell Medicine resident, I am eager to further cultivate the relationships I have built with hepatology mentors who have supported my growth tremendously.

Clinical/Research Interests: Liver transplantation, barriers to care in vulnerable populations and community outreach

  • Residency: Weill Cornell Medicine

Hometown: Sioux City, IA

Hobbies: Travel, theater, and exploring the best of NYC dining!

Why I love New York: It's one of the, if not THE, cultural epicenters of the world! No matter what you're into, there will be things for you here: Broadway, ballet, gastronomy, mixology, literature, poetry, nightlife, celeb spottings, shopping, and yes, even nature! There's a rich, fulfilling life waiting for you literally footsteps outside of the hospital.

Why I love Weill Cornell Medicine's Gastroenterology program: As great as New York is for life outside the hospital, during fellowship you can never be fully happy outside the hospital unless you're happy INSIDE the hospital — which is something our program really excels at making certain. The people are fantastic, mentorship is strong, the clinical cases are high volume/varied/complex, and research-wise it is hard to imagine another location in the country with a higher concentration of physician-scientists (Weill Cornell, NewYork-Presbyterian, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Rockefeller University, and the Hospital for Special Surgery are all within a 2 block radius!). Just like New York City, no matter what you're interested in clinically/scientifically, I'm certain there will be one (if not several) mentors to guide you along the way.

Clinical/Research Interests: The gut microbiome and host-pathogen interaction, specifically how microbes in the intestine influence human health and disease

Why I love New York: New York City truly offers something for everyone. I’m excited to explore its vibrant arts and food scenes while training at such an exceptional institution and receiving world-class education in gastroenterology.

Why I love Weill Cornell Medicine's Gastroenterology program: It stood out to me from the very beginning of the interview season. The program’s strong mentorship, rigorous clinical training, and abundant opportunities for growth and collaboration make me incredibly excited to begin this next chapter. I look forward to building lasting relationships with mentors, colleagues, and friends during my time here.

  • Residency: MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

Hometown: Barbados

Hobbies: Weightlifting, cooking for friends, international travel, restaurants, caring for carnivorous plants, candle-making, and photography.

Why I love New York: I love New York for the pace, the people, and the fact that there is always something new to get into. Having lived here before, I know it is a city where I feel at home and genuinely enjoy spending time. I also appreciate the strong Caribbean presence here. Coming from Barbados, that matters to me and makes the city feel even more like home. It also doesn't hurt that you can eat extremely well here at almost any hour.

Why I love Weill Cornell Medicine's Gastroenterology program: What draws me to this program is the combination of strong clinical training, genuine mentorship, and the breadth of the division. It feels like a place where I can continue to grow as a gastroenterologist while deepening my work in areas where I hope to contribute most: equity, prevention, and innovation.

Research Interests: Working on projects focused on transplant-related outcomes in people living with HIV and on colorectal cancer screening and polyp characteristics in younger adults.
