Our program offers the following tracks:
The Categorical Track is a traditional 36-month training program that balances inpatient and outpatient curricula across all subspecialties within internal medicine. This track prepares trainees for careers in general internal medicine, hospital medicine, and subspecialty fellowships.
The Weill Cornell Primary Care program is a targeted 36-month residency that provides a focused outpatient medicine curriculum in addition to intensive inpatient training. Established in 1989, it is characterized by its clinical rigor and flexible opportunities for academic exploration. There is an emphasis on the development of excellence in the clinical endeavor, teaching, leadership, and scholarly pursuit.
The Medical Research Track (MRT) recruits and trains the next generation of leading physician-scientists. The accelerated 24-month MRT curriculum provides rigorous training in clinical medicine and allows trainees to reach subspecialty training (if desired) by their PGY-3 year to facilitate the establishment of an independent research-based career.
