Chief Residents

Chief Medical Residents

The Chief Residents are responsible for educational activities, mediating clinical issues, and overseeing schedule coordination. They are integral members of the Program Leadership and represent the residency program to the rest of the department and hospital, in collaboration with the Quality Improvement Chief and Ambulatory Chief. They also serve as role models, mentors, and advisors for residents and students.

Quality Improvement Chief Resident

The Quality Improvement Chief Resident works closely with house staff on multiple projects related to Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Teaching QI and ensuring best practices and safe care, the QI Chief is involved in handoff projects and improvement in documentation. The QI Chief Resident acts as a liaison between several Hospital committees, Department committees, and the residency program, keeping lines of communication open and finding opportunities for resident involvement in system-wide QI initiatives.

Ambulatory Chief Resident

The Ambulatory Chief Resident is a teacher, advocate, mentor, and guide for residents and medical students during their ambulatory education experience. The Ambulatory Chief coordinates and designs outpatient primary care educational activities, oversees outpatient resident practices, interfaces between staff and residents at all of our ambulatory sites, and precepts residents in their outpatient primary care rotations. The Ambulatory Chief Resident is an integral member of the Ambulatory Curriculum Committee, the WCIMA Task Force committee devoted to enhancing resident learning culture and patient access, and the Primary Care Intern Recruitment Committee.
