With over $14.8 million in research funding in 2017 alone, our division is actively engaged in exciting NIH sponsored research in COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, pulmonary infections in the aged population, pulmonary hypertension, acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, biomarker discovery, among many other diseases. Fellows who choose to pursue basic science research or laboratory-based studies of human samples have many resources at their disposal. From world class mentors, to access to already existing human and mouse samples, to the CTSC core laboratories which can supplement fellow’s work in the lab, to statistical support within the division for interpreting proteomic, metabolomics, and other large data sets, fellows have all the resources needed to complete their projects and compete for competitive funding. A divisional T32 is available to provide a flexible, robust, multidisciplinary approach to mentored research training including the support for additional year(s) of protected research training.
