2020 Super Stars

Elias Baez, Academic Program Specialist, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, has brought stellar skills to organizing his division’s fellowship program. Fellowship candidates who visit the division praise Elias for his knowledge base and easy efficiency, as well as for his kindness and helpfulness. In fact, candidates frequently say that Elias is the best fellowship coordinator they have met throughout their visits to many medical centers as they seek a fellowship program. Elias is also described as a “can do” leader in all situations.

Elizabeth Baquero, Research Program Manager, Division of General Internal Medicine, is always receptive to new ideas, projects, and approaches. Considered a positive influence by those who work with her, Elizabeth is described as being professional in all aspects of her work and in a very fast-paced work environment. Colleagues described her as being a superb Super Star.

Jeffrey Bolanos, Patient Coordinator, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, has earned countless compliments from both patients and colleagues who state that he defines what it means to be “a role model of excellence.” Jeffrey is known for going the extra mile, treating others with thoughtfulness and respect, and providing service with a smile. All of his actions are prompt, efficient, and show extraordinary dedication to his division.

Marta Cruz, Medical Assistant, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, is known for her “amazing” work with patients in a busy medical setting. In addition to carrying out her work duties with great skill, Marta has been recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty in helping patients who are in need. It has been observed by colleagues that Marta is a role model for all employees in terms of her remarkable dedication and empathy on behalf of patients, especially those who are faced with difficult health issues.

Jessica Del Valle, Senior Medical Secretary, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, is noted for being a hard-worker and actively taking on additional tasks that benefit the team. Her can-do approach to work has earned her high regard from both patients and management. Patients have described Jessica as a “beautiful person” who has endless patience in answering any and every question. In addition to being a Super Star, Jessica is also a Silver Star.

Alma Hernandez, Senior Medical Secretary, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, consistently goes above and beyond in her work that includes administrative matters in a high-volume patient practice setting. She is highly valued by her team for meeting challenges with great skill, efficiency, and outstanding dedication.

Spencer Krichevsky, Research Program Specialist, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, is known for his selfless dedication to his work responsibilities, as well as generously giving of his time to help his co-workers. Despite an extremely busy work schedule, Spencer took time to train his co-workers on crucial coding skills that have, in turn, improved productivity for the entire unit. He is a Super Star that co-workers appreciate.

Brandon Lebron, Patient Coordinator, Division of Cardiology, has demonstrated exceptional professionalism and skill in handling complicated scheduling of physician appointments. While juggling appointment schedules with ease, Brandon is known for his thoroughness and for making his work “look easy.” Patients consider Brandon to be a star employee of the highest caliber and have expressed that “the division is extremely fortunate to have such a superior and kind person interfacing with its patients.”

Kinge-Ann Marcelin, Assistant Research Coordinator, Division of Infectious Diseases, sets an extraordinary example for her co-workers in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, problem solving, and professionalism. She is known for handling the most challenging of situations with grace and leadership. Co-workers appreciate her team spirit and willingness to provide guidance and knowledgeable assistance whenever needed. They say that they are proud to work with Kinge-Ann and consider her to be a true Super Star.

Erica Lopez-Martinez, Practice Specialist, Division of Cardiology, epitomizes a Star Performer according to her division’s management and physicians on staff. She is considered to be “a star in every conceivable way” based upon her extraordinary work ethic, follow through, and attention to detail. Nothing falls through the cracks when Erica is on board. She is also known for her willingness to “pinch-hit” in challenging situations to keep administrative activities running smoothly. Co-workers concur, “Cardiology would not be the same without Erica!”

Jessica Mendez-Torres, Senior Medical Secretary, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, has been recognized for her unparalleled dedication in ensuring that all work tasks are efficiently completed in a timely manner. In particular, she is known for helping patients to have a smooth and efficient experience in the medical setting, especially pertaining to the scheduling of lab tests or processing of prescription orders.

Faudia Pasha, Administrative Assistant, Division of General Internal Medicine, is known for her positive approach in all work situations. A problem-solver and an innovator, Faudia continually seeks new projects to keep administrative operations flowing efficiently in her section (hospital medicine). From assisting with recruitment of new faculty and the PA-hospitalist task force (Lower Manhattan Hospital location), to educational conferences and literature reviews, Faudia ensures that all the work gets done while remaining ahead of the curve. Faudia is a valued asset in her division and a true star!

C. Janet Pena, Senior Medical Secretary, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, has an outstanding ability to interface with patients. She is known for responding to patient inquiries efficiently and effectively. Patients describe Janet as genuine, a good listener, reliable, and personable.  Her division considers Janet to be highly adept at facilitating smooth transitions of care and note that she is able to administer projects swiftly and with ease. She has been described as, not only a “star,” but as an “angel” too.

Kimberly Rajmohan, Nurse Practitioner, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, has been recognized for bringing outstanding organizational skills to a busy clinical practice setting. Kimberly exemplifies the consummate team player who achieves major advances for the team, but never seeks all the credit. Kimberly works collaboratively while making co-workers feel included on important decisions. She remains on track with a professional and upbeat demeanor at all times. She is a Star Performer role model!

Christina Reyes, Senior Medical Secretary, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, has been recognized by patients, colleagues, and management alike for her extraordinary work ethic, responsiveness, dedication, efficiency, and courtesy in dealing with patients. On a daily basis, she demonstrates what it is to be a Super Star and a true “problem solver.”

Gladys Rodriguez, Lead Medical Assistant, Division of Cardiology, is known for her utmost professionalism, thoroughness, and courtesy in drawing and handling bloodwork. Patients consistently recognize Gladys for her excellence, dedication, and patient-focused approach. They have noted that she surpasses the highest level of skill and defines what it is to be a Super Star. Gladys is also a Gold Star for 2020.

Julie Rodriguez, Senior Administrative Specialist, Division of Cardiology, is known for her efficiency and caring demeanor. Patients describe her as being an “absolute STAR.” She has demonstrated outstanding effectiveness in accommodating the needs of patients in regard to scheduling and is highly adept at seamlessly making adjustments when needed. Julie is a Super Star as well as a Bronze Star for 2020.

Leslie Rudolph, Physician Assistant, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, is considered to be exceptionally talented in all aspects of her work. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, in particular, she served as an outstanding, compassionate, and skilled liaison between patients and their families. Around the clock, she was available to her patients and families whether via email, phone, or on site. The unwavering support she demonstrated on behalf of her patients has earned her the title of Super Star, and Bronze Star.

Frances Savinon, Practice Supervisor, Division of Cardiology, met many challenges during the COVID-19 epidemic with a “can do” attitude and great skill. Not only did she exemplify what it is means to work as a team-player, she demonstrated the highest level of expertise in establishing remote-work situations and navigating phone systems. Frances is considered to be a star based upon her ability to troubleshoot, her strong work ethic and willingness to take on additional responsibilities, as well as her positive outlook.

Sara Williams, Patient Coordinator, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, has been noted for her extremely professional demeanor and an instinctive ability to solve problems. Sara has become an expert in customer service and patient relations for her division. One patient stated that Sara is one of the most courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable individuals she has ever encountered – “She just gets it!”

Feng Zhen, Transitions Coordinator, Division of General Internal Medicine, exemplifies efficiency and thoroughness in all her responsibilities pertaining to patient scheduling and discharge summaries. Her work is so outstanding that outpatient providers have provided feedback saying that it is a great pleasure to send their patients to the LMH location because of Feng’s excellent work. Feng has become known as an employee who represents the best in “bridge care,” ensuring that all the loops are tied and the process is a smooth one for all patients. Feng is a star that shines brightly at the LMH location!
