Each year some of the nation's most outstanding young physicians join Weill Cornell's faculty. They are attracted to Weill Cornell because they know it is here they will provide the best possible patient care, collaborate in research aimed at improving the health of millions, and educate tomorrow's top physicians.
Weill Cornell's continued leadership in academic medicine depends on the faculty's ability to balance their closely interconnected roles as healers, investigators, and teachers. The Clinical Scholar Endowment is an innovative program designed to reduce the financial and administrative demands on talented junior and mid-level faculty, giving them the time and support they need to strengthen synergies across their activities in clinical care, research, and education.
Clinical Scholar Awards are among the most prestigious academic honors that can be bestowed upon a faculty member. Assistant or Associate Professors are eligible for a three-year period. Appointments to these awards are renewable at the Dean's discretion for an additional three-year period.
Clinical Scholar Awards confer high recognition and a singular distinction upon the recipient, as well as the donor. It bears a donor's name in perpetuity, enabling the donor to have an enduring effect on a field of personal significance, while supporting the next generation of world-renowned physicians and researchers at Weill Cornell.
