Dr. Dana Zappetti
Dr. Dana Zappetti has been appointed as Vice Chair for Clinical Operations in the Weill Department of Medicine (WDOM) effective July 1. The role of Vice Chair for Clinical Operations will incorporate responsibilities for ambulatory services. The WDOM expresses its sincerest appreciation to Dr. Robert Burakoff for his outstanding service as Vice Chair for Ambulatory Services. Dr. Burakoff, an expert in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), will continue as Site Chief for the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital and Weill Cornell Medicine.
In her role as Vice Chair for Clinical Operations, Dr. Zappetti will be focused on advancing ambulatory programs across the WDOM. In this capacity, Dr. Zappetti will work to grow and enhance the capabilities of divisional ambulatory programs in this new era ensuring the best use of space and resources to meet the growing needs of patients at WCM and NYP. In addition, Dr. Zappetti will focus on both patient and faculty and staff satisfaction in our new environment where both virtual and in-person visits are occurring. Dr. Zappetti is an expert in all areas of pulmonary and critical care medicine with a special interest in pulmonary infections in immunocompromised patients and the pulmonary complications of stem cell transplantation. She received her M.D. from Brown University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. Since joining the faculty of the WDOM’s Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in 2005, Dr. Zappetti has excelled in many leadership roles, including as Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship and as Key Clinical Faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. Dr. Zappetti has also served as Weill Cornell Medicine’s Associate Dean for Student Affairs and has earned numerous awards over the years, such as the J.J. Smith Memorial Award, Senior List, Excellence in Teaching Award (2008), and Department of Medicine Consultant of the Year.
