Dr. Judy Tung Appointed to Chair of the Department of Medicine at NYP/LMH

Dr. Judy Tung

Judy Tung, M.D., will be joining NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital (NYP/LMH) to serve as Chair of the Department of Medicine as of January 2016. Dr. Tung has served as the Director of Weill Cornell Internal Medicine Associates (WCIMA) at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center since 2009, where she has also been a faculty member since 2001. She has also served as Acting Chief of the Division of Internal Medicine since 2009 and will remain Section Chief of Ambulatory Medicine within the new Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Tung has held many other leadership positions at Weill Cornell, including Associate Chair of Educational Affairs, Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency and Director of the Primary Care Residency.

A leading expert in internal medicine and primary care, Dr. Tung also specializes in women's health. She obtained her M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in 1997 and completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of California, San Francisco in 2000. She served one year as a Chief Resident in Primary Care Internal Medicine at New York University. At NYP/Weill Cornell, Dr. Tung received a J. James Smith Teacher of the Year Award and a Primary Care Teaching Excellence Award.
