Dr. Smith Receives the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Physician Champion Award

Dr. Duane Smith was recently named as a recipient of the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Patient Centered Care Physician Champion Award. This award recognizes one physician annually who provides outstanding leadership and who inspires members of their team to provide excellent, compassionate, and responsible care for patients and their families. Dr. Cam Patterson, SVP/COO New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, presented the award to Dr. Smith during the Patient Centered Care Awards Ceremony held on June 19, 2015. Dr. Smith currently serves as the Associate Medical Director at the Center for Special Studies (CSS).

CSS is a part of the ambulatory network of NYP/WCM. It provides first class, HIV specialized and primary care to people living with HIV/AIDS. A leader in HIV care since 1988, the center was one of the first programs in New York to be recognized as a Designated AIDS Center by the Department of Health.

Said Dr. Smith, "It is a great honor to have received this award as it represents recognition by all those at NYP who work to make us a leader in patient centered care. I'd like to thank everyone involved in this effort and especially the staff at CSS, whose hard work and dedication makes this all possible."
