In recognition of Patient Safety Awareness Week, the Weill Department of Medicine's Quality & Patient Safety team helped coordinate a fireside-style chat with Dean Robert Harrington and Dr. Robert Min for faculty, staff and students titled "Igniting the Future of Quality and Patient Safety" in Uris on March 13.
The discussion highlighted the importance of creating an environment that allows for questions and collaboration. Both Dean Harrington and Dr. Min shared past experiences that led them to grow and taught them how to create this positive and dynamic culture. They also stressed the importance of being transparent and ensuring patients’ safety comes first. The discussion ended with them delving into artificial intelligence (AI) and their thoughts on the effect it will have on treatment and patient care. Dean Harrington and Dr. Min agreed that AI cannot replace the unique human qualities physicians and other healthcare professionals bring to patient care.
Following the talk, QPS leaders gave out awards to honor individuals who have shown excellence in caring for patients and creating a collaborative culture. After the event, a reception was held for all attendees in the Griffis Faculty Club.
