Dr. Madeline Sterling

Madeline Sterling, M.D., M.P.H., a PGY2 in the NYP/WCM internal medicine residency program, primary care track, has been selected by the Johns Hopkins GIM Housestaff Research Awards Review Committee to receive the inaugural Linda Dunbar Award for Population Health and Health System Transformation. The committee noted Dr. Sterling's "excellent" abstract, entitled "Predicting Early (30-Day) Readmissions Among Congestive Heart Failure Admissions: A Retrospective Analysis of Patient, Provider and Hospital-Based Factors."

This award represents the 9th annual national competition for Housestaff GIM Research Awards, and aims to stimulate interest in academic GIM (general internal medicine) and recognize outstanding house officers who have the potential to become leaders in GIM-related research. The awards are given to five residents nationwide each year, and are named for an internationally regarded mentor and researcher at Johns Hopkins whose primary faculty appointment is in the Division of GIM. Each award carries a cash prize and an invitation to travel to Baltimore, Maryland, to attend a celebratory dinner and to present the winning abstract at GIM grand rounds at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Sterling's research team includes: Parag Goyal, M.D. (cardiology fellow), Ashley Beecy, M.D. (PGY2), Caroline Andrew, M.D. (PGY2), Andrew Warner, P.A., Carla Boutin-Foster, M.D., M.S., and Erica Jones, M.D.

The Weill Department of Medicine congratulates Dr. Sterling and her entire team on this outstanding honor.
