Dr. Bardes Receives the 2014 Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award


The Weill Department of Medicine congratulates Dr. Charles L. Bardes on receiving the 2014 Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). This prestigious award recognizes significant contributions to medical education made by gifted teachers.

The most decorated teacher in the history of the Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Bardes joined the faculty at Weill Cornell in 1989 and serves as professor of clinical medicine and associate dean of admissions. His exemplary career in medical education includes serving as the medicine clerkship director for more than 17 years and leading the Clinical Clerkship Committee of the Medicine Education Council. He recently transitioned from clerkship director to focus his efforts on implementation of Weill Cornell's new medical education curriculum, which centers on the themes of science, patient care, and physicianship. Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Bardes has demonstrated the highest levels of excellence as a humanist and physician educator. He is the author of Pale Faces: The Masks of Anemia and a reviewer for Academic Medicine. After receiving his B.A. from Princeton University, Dr. Bardes attended University of Freiburg in Germany as a Rotary International Fellow. He then pursued an M.D. degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
