Dr. Guo Receives Prestigious NIH Director’s New Innovator Award: Gut Microbes and Human Health

Dr. Chun-Jun (C.J.) Guo, Assistant Professor of Immunology in Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, has received the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, which is part of the NIH Common Fund. This prestigious award supports “exceptionally creative early-career investigators who propose innovative, high-impact projects.” Dr. Guo, a scientist at the Jill Roberts Institute for Research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, WCM, is an expert on the genetic manipulation of gut microbes. The NIH Director’s New Innovator Award will fund his project on how hundreds of different bacterial species living in the human gut contribute to human health and disease.
