Dr. Lia Logio
Having joined Weill Cornell Medical College in June as Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Medicine and Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, Lia S. Logio, M.D. has been appointed as the Herbert J. and Ann L. Siegel Distinguished Professor of Medicine effective January 1, 2011.
The endowed professorship recognizes Dr. Logio's outstanding leadership in medical education and administration, as well as her innovations in education, patient safety and faculty development. Previous to joining Weill Cornell, she served as Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she was also Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development.
Dr. Logio received her M.D. from The Johns Hopkins University and completed her residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center. She has received numerous teaching honors, including the Sol Goldman Award in Geriatrics from Johns Hopkins; nomination (twice) for the Eugene A. Stead, Jr. Teaching Award and the Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence at Duke; the Haskell-Schiff Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine and induction to the Frank E. Engel Society at Duke; and the Outstanding Teacher Award in General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics from Indiana University. She has served as the Editor of Board Basics for the American College of Physicians and as a Contributor to its Medical Knowledge Self-assessment Program.
