Erle, MD-Roberts Family Associate Professor of Medicine and Head of Basic Research in Gastroenterology & Hepatology, recipient of the 2023 AAI – BD Biosciences Investigator Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the field of immunology.
He is a nationally and internationally recognized authority in the fields of mucosal immunology and host-microbe interactions. His work has led to important new insights connecting the immune system and various microbes with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, brain, and other areas including cancers.
