Dr. Monika Safford, Chief, Division of Internal Medicine, WDOM, states, “I am delighted that Dr. Phillips is being acknowledged for her outstanding contributions to Weill Cornell Medicine. She has been a tireless advocate for community engaged research over her entire career and has been a superb leader of the Community Engagement Core of the Cornell Center for Health Equity. She was recognized by a community group last year for her outstanding commitment to community health and health equity, reflecting the impact of her work beyond scientific circles. It is gratifying to see this kind of scientific work rewarded and praised through this endowed chair, which reflects the growing stature of community-partnered research at our institution. Undoubtedly, Dr. Phillips has been a stand-out leader of this work at Weill Cornell Medicine, and this endowed professorship is well deserved.”
