After a nationwide search, Dr. Augustine M.K. Choi has been appointed to serve as the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell University’s provost for medical affairs.
Dr. Julie Magarian Blander is the recipient of significant funding from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Burroughs Wellcome Trust Fund, and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Scholar Award.
The conference was designed to highlight research programs within the Department, expand scientific collaborations, promote the exchange of knowledge between trainees and senior investigators, and foster the development of the next generation of researchers.
Dr. Yoon Kang has been promoted from Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum to the newly created position of Associate Dean for Program Development and Operations of Medical Education. Dr. Kang is also the Director of the Margaret and Ian Smith Clinical Skills Center at Weill Cornell Medicine. She has received numerous teaching awards at Weill Cornell.
Dr. Dana Zappetti, has been appointed to Associate Dean for Student Affairs at WCM. Dr. Zappetti is also the Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship; Assistant Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell; and Course Director for the Subinternship in Medicine at the Medical College.
In her new role, Dr. Linnie Golightly will work closely with fellow Associate Dean of Diversity, Dr. Rache M. Simmons, within the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. She will be focused on enhancing initiatives to increase underrepresented minority diversity throughout our community. Having a wealth of longstanding experience as a researcher and mentor in her field, Dr. Golightly will help to diversify the biomedical research workforce at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Fernando J. Martinez has been appointed as Chief of the Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine in the Weill Department of Medicine. The Gladys and Roland Harriman Professor in Medicine, Dr. Martinez is a premiere translational researcher in chronic lung disease.
Dr. Jennifer I. Lee has been appointed to serve as Vice Chair for Quality and Patient Safety in the Weill Department of Medicine. Dr. Lee will continue to foster collaborative efforts to ensure high quality, high value care delivery for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Thomas A. McGrath, MBA, has been appointed to Chief Administrative Officer for the Weill Department of Medicine. In this role, Mr. McGrath will direct administrative and business activities within the department, including finance, accounting, research administration, clinical operations, capital planning, ITS, academic appointments, and education.
Dr. David Berlin has been appointed to Vice Chair of Medicine for the New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medicine Healthcare Systems. In this role, he is responsible for fostering integration of clinical and academic missions between the Departments of Medicine of the NYP System Hospitals affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine.
