Dr. Morales joined the Weill Cornell Medicine faculty in 1998 and currently serves as the Associate Director of the Housestaff Training Program in Internal Medicine. She obtained her MD from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the Presbyterian Hospital of the City of New York.
Dr. Augustine M.K. Choi, the Sanford I. Weill Chairman of the Weill Department of Medicine, will serve as Interim Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine and Interim Provost for Medical Affairs of Cornell University as of June 1, 2016. The Board of Trustees of Cornell University has approved the formation of a search committee to assist Cornell's Interim President, Hunter Rawlings, in selecting the new Dean and Provost for Medical Affairs.
Dr. David E. Cohen has been appointed as Vincent Astor Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Weill Department of Medicine. Dr. Cohen will be joining the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in July of 2016.
After a national search, Dr. Geoffrey Stuart Pitt has been appointed to Director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CRVI) at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Pitt will be joining the Maurice R. and Corinne P. Greenberg Division of Cardiology as the Ida and Theo Rossi Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the Weill Department of Medicine in July of 2016. He will lead and direct the basic and translational research program focused on cardiovascular diseases and cardiovascular sciences.
The Employee Recognition Review Committee (R3) celebrated the Weill Department of Medicine's star performers at the Annual RRR (Results, Rewards, Recognition) Reception held at the Griffis Faculty Club on November 10, 2015.
Judy Tung, M.D., will be joining NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital (NYP/LMH) to serve as Chair of the Department of Medicine as of January 2016. A leading expert in internal medicine and primary care, Dr. Tung also specializes in women's health.
Dr. Salmon will oversee Weill Cornell Medicine's Office of Faculty Affairs, working closely with Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs Mark Albano, senior leadership, and department chairs to implement best practices for appointments, promotions, and tenure actions. She will also coordinate with the Office of Faculty Development and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion on behalf of clinical, teaching and research faculty.
The Results, Rewards and Recognition Committee (R3) of the Weill Department of Medicine completed its bimonthly review. The Super Star winners were Angie McNally, Administrative Specialist, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and Allison Lasky, Administrative Coordinator, Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care Medicine.
Robert S. Brown, Jr., M.D., M.P.H., has been appointed to Vice Chair of Transitions of Care for the Weill Department of Medicine (WDOM). He is the Interim Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Director of the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Additionally, Dr. Brown holds the title of Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons.
As Vice Chair for Basic and Translational Research, Dr. Lipkin will work closely with departmental and divisional leadership to enhance and foster the research activities of our faculty and trainees.
