Dr. David Calfee, Professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, WDOM has been named the sixth Editor-in-Chief of the journal Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology by The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.

A clinician and dedicated researcher in healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, and antibiotic stewardship, Dr. Calfee has served as an associate editor of the journal over the past several years. He will begin to transition into his new role in July 2021; he and his team will begin to review new submissions during a six month overlap with the current Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Suzanne Bradley.

“Dr. Calfee was chosen from a competitive field of applicants because of his strong vision for the journal and his commitment to publishing the best research in healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, and antibiotic stewardship,” said David Henderson, M.D., President of SHEA. “Dave outlined clear objectives for building on the journal’s strengths, collaborating with SHEA staff, and engaging with authors.”

Dr. Calfee serves as the Deputy Medical Director of Infection Prevention & Control at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
