Dr. Barbara Hempstead has been appointed to serve as Dean of the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, which offers more than a dozen doctoral and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines. Dr. Hempstead, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, is the O. Wayne Isom Professor of Medicine as well as a professor of neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medicine. A preeminent hematologist, neuroscientist, administrator, and educator, Dr. Hempstead’s distinguished career at Weill Cornell has spanned more than 30 years. In her new role as Dean, she will enhance new curriculum, expand research opportunities for students, advance interdisciplinary collaborations, and more.
