Dr. Reem Z. Sharaiha Appointed to Director of Interventional Endoscopy


Dr. Reem Sharaiha

Dr. Reem Z. Sharaiha, Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, has been appointed to Director of Interventional Endoscopy in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Sharaiha will oversee a newly expanded interventional group, as well as advanced endoscopy training at the NewYork-Presbyterian's Greenberg Pavilion and David H. Koch Center.

Dr. Sharaiha joined Weill Cornell Medicine in 2012 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018. She has been an integral part of the expansion of advanced endoscopy, bariatric endoscopy, and the pancreas program at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Sharaiha is widely recognized for her expertise and pioneering research as an interventional endoscopist, with a focus on endobariatric endoscopic procedures. In addition to developing endoscopic approaches for weight management, she is an authority on managing the complications of weight loss surgery. Additionally, she is an expert on the endoscopic management of pancreatic and hepatobiliary disorders.

A graduate of St. Georges Hospital Medical School, University of London, Dr. Sharaiha completed her residency training at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia Medical Center. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Biostatistics and Patient Oriented Research from Columbia University’s School of Public Health and was trained in advanced endoscopy at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
