Dr. Suthanthiran Delivers Oration at the 16th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation


Dr. Manikkam Suthanthiran, Chief, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, and the Stanton Griffis Distinguished Professor of Medicine, delivered the Dr. Vidya Acharya Oration at the 16th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation (AST) 2019. Held in Delhi, India, the event unites regional and world leaders to review clinical and scientific advances in transplantation and meets every two years in one of the countries in Asia. It is attended by leading transplant physicians and transplant surgeons among others involved in transplantation.

An internationally renowned leader in the transplantation field is selected by the Scientific Organizing Committee of the AST and invited to deliver the opening Oration. Dr. Suthanthiran was the recipient of this year’s high honor, and his talk was entitled, “Monitoring the Allograft in the 21st Century: From the Microscope to Molecular Scan.” He delivered an additional lecture at the event, entitled, “Transplantation: Promises Kept and Hopes to be Met.”
