The WDOM announces the passing of Dr. Richard J. Mahler on August 6, 2022. An expert in the field of endocrinology, Dr. Mahler was beloved by patients, trainees, and colleagues alike. His thriving clinical practice was divided between diabetes and internal medicine. He was frequently listed in Best Doctors of New York, was a Member of The Harvey Society, and served on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Clinical and Translational Science Center at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Mahler loved teaching residents and fellows. Physicians who worked with Dr. Mahler often noted that he represented their “personal standard of excellence in the medical profession.”
Dr. Mahler was a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Weill Department of Medicine and an Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He obtained his M.D. from New York Medical College where he completed his residency training and a fellowship.
