Peter Kam

After starting his career at Cornell University Medical College in 1987 as a research technician in the Department of Neurology, Peter moved to the Department of Medicine in 1989. Over three decades he served in positions of increasing responsibility, including Associate Director, Budget & Accounting. During a transition period in the Department, he additionally served as interim chief administrative officer.

With the support of Peter’s exceptional financial stewardship, the Weill Department of Medicine’s growth has accelerated with the expansion of its clinical, research, and educational programs. His contributions to these initiatives have had a lasting impact on patient care and our greater community.

His collaborated freely with colleagues throughout Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian to generate ideas and innovations to improve many of our workflow processes and achieve crucial goals.  Many of us learned important lessons through his mentorship and enjoyed his special sense of humor. His dedication to the mission of the Weill Department of Medicine was second to none.

On March 24, more than 75 friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate Peter’s long tenure. Tributes highlighted his wisdom, friendship, and strong sense of service. The WDOM expresses its deepest condolences to Peter’s family, including his wife, Frances, his children Brian and Olivia, and his many friends.
