The Employee Recognition Review Committee (R3) of the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Department of Medicine completed its bimonthly review of all nominees and a record four superstar winners were announced, with two from the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology ( Jessica Martinez, Senior Medical Secretary and Virginia Hernandez, Senior Clinical Technician), and Ericka Fong, Financial Coordinator (Division of Hospital Medicine), Donna Chambers, Credentialing Specialist (Division of Education). Jessica Martinez, who works with several physicians covering 10 exams rooms, was noted for her management skills and supervisors said: "Her pleasant personality goes a long way in bringing comfort to our patients with cancer." Virginia, who supervises seven medical technicians, is known for her problem-solving skills and promoting a positive team work environment. Donna Chambers was noted for her consistently superb years of service in smoothly managing credentialing issues in the education unit, a true role model. Ericka Fong was noted for her outstanding service and going that extra mile in assisting with the department’s recent merger with the Lower Manhattan Hospital location.
Of special note, Tony Nepomuceno, Patient Coordinator (Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism/Weight Management and Metabolic Research Center) was named as a Bronze Star Performer. The Bronze Star Performer title is given to those who have received “Star Performer” recognition for two years. It means that the individual has been recommended to the Committee more than once.
