Karen Pekle Named Nurse of the Year by ACS: Skill, Compassion, and Commitment Exemplified


In a ceremony held on June 26 in Charleston, South Carolina, Karen Pekle, a native of Ridgewood, Queens, was named “Nurse of the Year” by the American Cancer Society (ACS). Karen works with cancer patients in the Division of Hematology and Oncology and her story was recently highlighted in the New York Post. This was the first time that the ACS has honored an oncology nurse. The competition was nationwide and there were hundreds of submissions from which Karen was selected. The Department congratulates Karen on this outstanding achievement.
