Dr. Phyllis August and team have been featured in the CHAP study’s newsletter, The Pulse, as “Site of the Month.” Dr. August serves as Site PI for the NIH-funded study, which is focused on chronic hypertension and pregnancy (CHAP).
The CHAP project is a large multicenter pragmatic randomized trial that is comparing two different strategies for managing hypertension during pregnancy in women who had elevated blood pressure prior to pregnancy. Dr. August and her team have been participating in the study for the last three years. The Weill Cornell Team was recognized by the Coordinating Center at University of Alabama for their outstanding recruitment efforts. The team includes: Line Malha, M.D., M.Sc., Nephrology Co-Investigator; Rosemerie Marion, ANP, R.N., Research Nurse Coordinator; Emmanuel Edusei, B.S., Research Coordinator; and Amrin Khander, M.D., Maternal Fetal Medicine Co-Investigator.

Dr. August is the Ralph A. Baer, MD Professor of Research in Medicine and the Director of the Hypertension Center, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
