Dr. August Receives Belding H. Scribner Award (ASN Lifetime Achievement Awards)

The WDOM congratulates Dr. Phyllis August on receiving the American Society of Nephrology’s Belding H. Scribner Award. This award is part of the Society’s 2022 lifetime and midcareer awards that honors outstanding leaders in the field of nephrology. A pioneering physician-investigator in the field of preeclampsia, Dr. August’s research has focused on hypertension and kidney disease during pregnancy, as well as hypertension associated with kidney disease. As stated by Dr. Susan E. Quaggin, President of the American Society of Nephrology, this award recognizes “leadership, innovation, collaboration and an unwavering commitment to do what is best for patients and advance kidney health.”

Phyllis August, M.D., M.P.H., is a graduate of Harvard University and Yale University, and completed her residency and a nephrology fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center (NYP/WCMC). She is a Professor of Medicine, Public Health, and Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Ralph A. Baer, MD Professor of Research in Medicine, and Director of the Hypertension Center at NYP/WCMC. She is the Program Director for the Nephrology Fellowship in the WDOM’s Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and the Director of the Lang Center for Research and Education at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens.
