Since 2012, the Weill Department of Medicine (WDOM) has hosted the Annual Quality Improvement/Patient Safety (QIPS) Symposium, the first conference at our institution to highlight projects focusing on improvement and safety initiatives and innovations within our department. Posters by medical students, residents, fellows, and attending faculty have been showcased at the event held in the Griffis Faculty Lounge, which is open for attendance to all NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine staff, students, and faculty. The evening of celebration has grown to include a graduation ceremony for the Quality Improvement Academy fellows for the past four years. Due to overwhelming popularity and request for similar events across departments, the symposium is now co-sponsored by the Quality Improvement Academy and the Weill Cornell Medicine Physician Organization Division of Quality and Patient Safety to include quality and safety projects implemented throughout the College.
